One of the most interesting parts of Osaurus to me is the possibility of building specialized capabilities on top of the harness instead of every project reimplementing providers, model routing, agent execution and orchestration.
Osaurus on macOS already has a versioned plugin host API. It would be great to have the same logical extension model on Windows, even if the underlying native binary format is different.
Useful extension capabilities could include:
- registering tools and capabilities
- agent dispatch
- inference/model access
- persistent plugin storage
- configuration UI
- HTTP/API routes where appropriate
- capability and API-version discovery
The goal would not necessarily be binary compatibility between macOS and Windows, but a stable cross-platform contract for third-party integrations.
